As the newly appointed Director of Camp Operations, I am thrilled to be connected with Waters Edge Bible Camp. Camp ministries has been a part of my life since my days in high school. In fact, my first summer job, at the age of 15, was counseling and wrangling at summer camp. Working at Waters Edge, allows me the opportunity to go back to my ministry and missions’ roots.
Having grown up in a Christian community, the sense of ministry and missions was always a piece of the conversation. Camp and camp activities were a direct occasion for us to reach children with the saving message of Jesus. While camp may have been viewed by some as a place to vent their enthusiasm, I regarded camp as a means for missional outreach.
After completing high school, I attended Bible School for a three-year period. Bible School gave me the reason to personalize my relationship with the living Christ, while providing clarity as to who I was as a child of God. When Bible school was completed, I commenced my 24-year career in law enforcement.
While being employed with the Saskatoon Police Service, my wife Darlene and I directed a family camp in central Saskatchewan. As a family, we believe in the Christian camping experience. You will see that camp has always had a high importance for Darlene and me. In fact, prior to becoming a police officer, I had considered a career in full-time Christian counseling. However, God’s timing redirected me for 24 years. Finally, in 2019, my heart’s desire has become a reality.
Waters Edge Bible Camp is positioned to be an excellent outreach tool, for Jesus, in a world struggling to understand the constant chaos of life. I am grateful to the Heavenly Father for allowing me to be involved and to witness His work at Waters Edge.
